For Mary Wright, returning to school was a necessity. “As a single mother, I was looking for a steady career path that would support my daughter,” she says.

The Office Administration program at College of the Rockies provided her the opportunity to stay versatile in the workforce.

Mary completed both an Office Administration certificate and an Administrative Assistant Specialty Certificate between 2012 and 2013.  “The College was a good fit for me.  I reside in Cranbrook and have friends who have also enjoyed their time at the College,” she adds.

Prior to graduating from her program, Mary was offered a position as an Administrative Assistant with a local Chartered Accounting firm.  After focussing on this new career opportunity and getting her daughter established in school, she hopes to train to become an Accounting Technician in the future.

“I have been presented with priceless opportunities for growth because of the doors that my Office Administration education has opened for me,” Mary reveals.

The options made available to Mary don’t end there, however.  She also works as a photographer and writer for snapd magazine for the East Kootenays.  “This position was also a break that was offered to me due to my success with College of the Rockies.  I am so grateful to have the life experiences and chances to network within the community that I have gained through my education,” she concludes.
