Wildflower loves working with young children. After developing Stretch, Read and Relax, a yoga-based early language and literacy program, she wanted to continue her commitment to working with children.
Expanding her education to include Early Childhood Education studies was important to her. While researching school options she found College of the Rockies’ website easy to navigate and the information she was looking for very accessible.
“I also appreciated getting a human voice on the other end of the line when I phoned for assistance,” she says.
That, combined with the ability to take the Early Childhood Education program online, made the College the right choice for her.
“The flexibility of studying online made the program very accessible to me. I also appreciated making connections with other students around the province and having access to their rich and varied backgrounds through our online discussions and sharing,” she adds.
Since graduating with her ECE certificate in 2012, Wildflower has found employment as a Child Care Consultant with Child Care Resource and Referral through the Kamloops Community YM-YWCA. She runs an interactive Play and Learn drop-in where she has the opportunity to support families through the critical learning and development of their children’s early years. She is also featured in a video about the program.
Wildflower’s current position also offers her the opportunity to work more with families of infants and toddlers through infant massage instruction and to develop a Baby Time drop-in at the Child Care Resource and Referral Centre.
