Are you a woman looking to advance your career, re-enter the workforce or start your own business? Seneca HELIX’s HERizons program is helping to dismantle gender barriers in the workplace by providing free career support and training specifically developed for women.
Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Women’s Employment Readiness Pilot Program.
HERizons will provide those who identify as women with free training, access to thought leaders and networking opportunities to help you make a realistic and achievable plan for the future you want.
All components of the program are free-of-charge, and are developed from an inclusive, women-focused perspective. These components include:
- targeted workshops, online and in-person
- immersive VR simulation learning sessions on topics such as how to prepare for interviews and public speaking
- career development sessions
- microgrants for female entrepreneurs
- networking events with successful entrepreneurs
- HELIX RISE, an annual summit that brings together female thought leaders to share insights on topics such as personal branding, finances and more
- access to technology (e.g. laptops and printers), childcare and/or transportation for in-person event participants
FREE Business English and Business Math Training Courses
HERizons offers cohort-based training courses to help develop essential Math and English skills for the workplace. Registration for these courses is now closed. For more information on future courses, please submit a request.

Who is this initiative for?
HERizons, is a professional development program that offers free training, events and career support. This initiative is open to everyone at all stages in their career. However, content is designed and tailored for those who identify as women (including gender diverse people).
What supports and resources are available?
Each month, HERizons offers a selection of free, 30- to 90- minute virtual sessions. Women can develop key job skills and learn top tips from inspirational speakers.
In addition to the virtual sessions, HERizons also offers:
- career development sessions and on-demand resources
- Microgrants for eligible female entrepreneurs
- networking events (in-person and virtual)
- HELIX RISE, an annual summit that brings together female thought leaders
- 8-week cohort-based math and English training courses
- access to technology (i.e. laptops) and campus resources for HERizons participants in the Kootenay region
How do I sign up?
Each of the workshops and events are stand-alone, so you must register for each workshop or career development session in order to attend. For a list of our upcoming workshops, visit our website. After choosing which session(s) you would like to attend, you will be directed to Eventbrite to register. If it is your first time registering, you’ll need to create a free account.
If you live in western Canada and would like to be more involved in the HERizons community, you can register as a student in the program. As a HERizons registrant, you will be enrolled as a student of the College of the Rockies, which includes access to a student email, Office 365, and campus resources. Registrants will also be able to view recordings of all past virtual HERizons sessions and participate in online discussion forums for each workshop. To register, please complete our request form.
Is there any recognition for completing the workshops?
The HERizons workshops are divided into series, where each series is comprised of four workshops. If you complete all four live virtual workshops within a series, you’ll be eligible to receive a digital Certificate of Completion. A participation tracking form is provided during each session to track your attendance.
Is there a cost?
All HERizons offerings and initiatives are completely free.
Is HERizons offered virtually or in-person?
All HERizons offerings are virtual or delivered in a hybrid format. Details about the format of the event is outlined on each event’s Eventbrite page.
Can I participate if I don’t live in Canada?
Yes. You can access all HERizons offerings virtually from anywhere in the world.
