Creating Space for Student Interaction and Parallel Discussion-Addressing Intercultural Barriers

The workshop will review the use of digital backchannels and parallel discussions, collaborative conversations, interactive notes, and formative assessments for enabling the inclusion of diverse perspectives. Students who feel self-conscious about speaking aloud can more comfortably express their ideas and engage in more freedom and flexibility with when and how these ideas are expressed.

These techniques foster a more open environment for questions, answers, and sharing of a variety of ideas and viewpoints in both face-to-face and online learning environments.
