Health and safety measures for fall 2021
On Tuesday, August 24, we learned about new health and safety measures for post-secondary
institutions from the Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training (AEST) Anne Kang and the
Provincial Health Officer (PHO) Dr. Bonnie Henry. These new safety measures will be implemented as
part of our full return to campus in September.
Minister Kang and Dr. Henry provided information about the reintroduction of a mask mandate as well

As of Wednesday, August 25, masks will be required in all indoor public spaces at College of the Rockies’
campuses. This includes lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, classrooms and labs, the library, service
areas like Registration, Student Services, the cafeteria, and common areas in the gymnasium. Masks do
not need to be worn in the gym while working out or in the cafeteria when seated to eat.
Proof of vaccination will be required to live in on-campus student housing for the fall semester. All
students living in housing at College of the Rockies will be required to provide proof of vaccination to
Student Housing Services by September 7. More information about the process for providing proof of
vaccination will be sent directly to all students living on campus this fall. We expect further details in the
coming days as the Province updates the Return-to-Campus Guidelines.
These Guidelines will also provide clarity about vaccination requirements for accessing the gymnasium
and the cafeteria. We will provide updates as soon as they are available.
College of the Rockies strongly encourages all members of the College community to get fully vaccinated
against COVID-19 before classes commence this fall. Registering and booking an appointment online is
The College’s Cranbrook campus will also be hosting a pop-up vaccination clinic on September 8th and 9th
