Timber Weigh Scaling

Course Overview

The Weigh Scaling program prepares students with the competency in the skills and knowledge required for certification via the BC Weigh Scaling Exam. The course introduces participants to the legal and regulatory framework that follows timber from harvest through scaling and billing including the connections between timber marks, forest licenses, the Harvest Billing System (HBS), and scale data. Students will learn practical skills in the procedures for testing the weighing device, weighing loads, and managing loads selected as samples, as well as identifying commercial interior log species and defects, correctly stratifying loads of timber, and managing loads not meeting stratum descriptions.
