Will require own transportation to James White Park for the practical portion of the course.

Safety boots and gloves required. All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and equipment supplied.

Must dress for the weather.

Course Overview

This one-day, women-focused course is designed for entry-level chainsaw operators who want to develop the skills and confidence to safely operate and maintain a chainsaw. Participants will learn essential chainsaw safety practices, proper equipment care, and safe operating techniques in a supportive and hands-on learning environment. Course includes approximately four hours of classroom instruction covering Occupational Health and Safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, safe work practices, chainsaw maintenance, and proper chain filing techniques. Participants will also complete practical exercises to reinforce key concepts. Approximately four hours of field training provides an opportunity to apply classroom learning through hands-on chainsaw operation. Participants will practice safe operating procedures and complete a field assessment demonstrating basic chainsaw operating competency.

This course is ideal for women who are new to chainsaw use or looking to refresh their skills while building confidence in a supportive learning environment.
