Delivery Methods

Program Delivery Methods

Programs contain a series of courses and are delivered using one or more delivery types:

Temporary Alternate Delivery Methods for Fall 2020

Please note: Due to COVID-19, we have had to temporarily move some of our programs to alternate delivery methods. For those courses taking place in person, we are following all health and safety guidelines outlined by the Provincial Health Officer, the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills, and Training and WorkSafeBC. On-campus modifications will be made to ensure safe physical distancing for students and instructors.

Temporarily Blended (Hybrid) program:

The program includes both online and face-to-face courses, because some courses are available only online, and some courses are available only face-to-face.

Temporarily Online program:

The entire program is available online.

On-campus or Face-to-face program:

The entire program is available face-to-face.

Individual Course Delivery Methods

Courses may be delivered in a variety of forms:

Online:

  • Students learn in a course that is entirely web-based.
  • Students can expect courses to be delivered online in both synchronous (at the same time, as in a phone call, videoconference, or online chat) and asynchronous (not at the same time, as in posting to a discussion board or doing an assigned reading) modes.

On-campus (Face-to-face):

Students learn while present with their instructor in a classroom, lab or shop, or sometimes in the field.

Blended (Hybrid):

Students learn in a course that combines both face-to-face and online components for all students in the course.

Practicum/Work Placement:

Students learn in an actual work setting under the supervision of an instructor or workplace supervisor.

Individually Paced (Directed or Guided Studies):

  • Students learn using learning modules.
  • They may interact with their instructor face-to-face at flexible classroom times or online.
  • The instructor helps the student to create an individualized schedule, and provides ongoing monitoring and support.
