Blaze was working in security but wanted to make a change. After an assessment indicated he may be best suited for Human Service work he enrolled in Adult Upgrading at College of the Rockies to get the prerequisites he needed.

Upon completing his upgrading, Blaze chose the Human Service Worker program at College of the Rockies because he wanted to remain local yet receive a quality education.

At the conclusion of the practicum portion of the certificate program, Blaze was offered an on-call position at Pioneer Lodge, a residential facility supporting people with developmental disabilities.  Now nearing the completion of the diploma program, he has accepted a temporary full-time position at the Lodge.

Completing the Human Service Worker program at College of the Rockies is the fulfilment of a dream for Blaze. “I was not expected to attend college, let alone graduate,” he says. “Now I am the first of my siblings to be completing a college program.”
