Leanne knew she loved working with children but wasn’t sure a career as a teacher was for her. The 10-month Education Assistant program at College of the Rockies was a great way for her to be able to work in schools with children quickly.

Having taken courses at College of the Rockies previously, Leanne knew the teachers, class sizes and location all were what she was looking for and needed to succeed. “Any time I need help, there was always someone there to answer questions or walk me through what needed to get done,” Leanne explains.  “Even to this day, if I see a former instructor they are always very happy to see me and interested in what I’m doing now.  At a university, I would have been just another student.”

Leanne graduated from the Education Assistant program in June 2010 and was immediately hired to work at Kootenay Christian Academy.  “I am in my third year and loving it,” says Leanne.  “I came into my job well prepared with the confidence, tools and skills I needed to be a great Education Assistant.”
