Braeden Logan has a long history with College of the Rockies. He completed his diploma in Tourism and Recreation Management as well as an Environmental Science certificate here.

So, when he decided it was time to pursue his dream of a career in emergency services he knew returning to the College was the right move for him.

“I had heard great things about the Fire Services Training program at the College and having taken programs there before I’d become quite attached to the school so it felt right to finish out my educational path there,” Braeden says. “A few friends had previously taken the program and they all had a great experiences with it too.”

While a part of the program, Braeden was also a member of the Radium Hot Springs Fire Department. He continues in that role now that he has graduated while he looks for full-time employment in the field.

“I feel like it is very important to give back to my community and to use my skills and knowledge to serve the people there as best I can,” he adds.

As for his long-term goals, Braeden’s education opens up many opportunities for him.  He will be looking for career positions with fire departments in BC and across Canada but will also look into industrial sites where he could work as a site medic, safety officer or on fire watch.  He’s looking forward to just gaining more experience in his chosen field.

No matter where the future takes him, Braeden is thankful for where it started. “College of the Rockies is an amazing school and I’d highly recommend anyone who was curious about starting local to give it a try. It just might shape your future in a way you never thought possible.”
