Transfer agreement with University of Alberta provides guaranteed admission to College’s Engineering certificate students
College of the Rockies’ Engineering students have another option open to them upon completing their certificate, thanks to a new transfer agreement signed with the University of Alberta.
“Our Common First Year Engineering certificate agreement already supports extremely solid transfer across the province,” said Robin Hicks, Vice President Academic and Applied Research. “This agreement with University of Alberta adds another avenue for students.”
The transfer agreement formalizes guaranteed admission into Year 2 of Engineering at U of A as well as block transfer of the College’s certificate. Students must apply directly to U of A and meet their entrance requirements, as they would for any other Engineering program. College of the Rockies students will also be required to make up one course upon transfer.
Students who complete the Engineering certificate at College of the Rockies will not only see significant financial savings compared to a large university, but also benefit from the small classes and personalized attention from faculty. Students who start at College of the Rockies and then transfer to university to complete a degree are among the most successful transfer students in B.C., according to the B.C. Council on Admission and Transfer (BCCAT).
“In BCCAT’s last two reports, the College has ranked high for student success,” said Hicks. “Not only do our students have the highest degree completion rate of any transfer institution in the province, but they also are among the top performing students academically. Our faculty and support services play a big part in that success.”
