College of the Rockies Announces New Executive Director, Public Relations

College of the Rockies welcomes new Executive Director, Public Relations Erin Gawne.

College of the Rockies’ President and CEO, David Walls, is pleased to announce the appointment of Erin Gawne as Executive Director, Public Relations.

Gawne brings with her 15 years of experience in senior roles in Canada’s communications industry. Most recently, she worked as Senior Director at global public relations firm, Edelman, where she provided integrated communications solutions involving brand development, media relations, reputation management, paid advertising, digital communications, stakeholder engagement, and development of online content and print materials.

“I’m excited to get started in the role,” Gawne says. “I look forward to helping tell the stories of all the bright and accomplished students, instructors and staff that are part of the College community.”

Through her years of experience, Gawne has worked with numerous clients including Shell Canada, BC Industry Training Authority, BCAA, Electronic Arts, A&W Food Services, Air New Zealand, Century 21, Queen’s University and the United Way of Greater Toronto. She has also been responsible for leading integrated marketing communications campaigns for organizations such as the Canadian Association of Optometry and the City of Vancouver.

Gawne holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Victoria, a post graduate certificate in communications from Humber College and a digital marketing certificate from the University of Toronto. She is also certified in public participation by the International Association for Public Participation.

“We are pleased to have Erin joining our executive team,” says Walls. “I have no doubt that her experience and background will be of great benefit to the College. We look forward to her contributions to our community.

Gawne has recently moved to Cranbrook from Vancouver with her husband and two children.  She will begin her new role on November 20, 2017.
