This course introduces students to the interdisciplinary field of Indigenous Studies. As a foundational course, it introduces students to Intractable Conflict experienced by Indigenous Peoples in Canada. A variety of topics and current analysis such as The Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women/Girls and Two-Spirit People Inquiry as well as the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples will equip students with a foundational understanding of current relations between Canada and Indigenous Peoples and their historical context.
