Students choosing where to begin their post-secondary journey often face a difficult question: should you start at a smaller college that offers personalized support, or go directly to a university?
Transfer agreements make that decision earlier.
College of the Rockies has five new transfer agreements in place for Fall 2026. These agreements expand opportunities for you to begin your studies in the supportive learning environment of the College while maintaining clear pathways to complete bachelor’s degrees at partner universities. Together, the newest agreements create new options in communications, technology, mental health, Indigenous health, and public health.
One of the great advantages of studying at College of the Rockies is that you can start close to home, benefit from smaller classes and personalized instruction, and still have a clear route to achieving your long-term educational goals. These agreements ensure you have more choices and more flexibility as you plan your future.
For many students, beginning at a smaller college offers significant advantages. Faculty know you by name, class sizes are smaller, and you receive individualized support as you build foundational knowledge and skills. You can also reduce costs by completing the first years of your education close to home before transferring into a degree program. Those benefits are now paired with even more opportunities to continue your studies beyond a diploma or associate degree.
Among the new pathways is an agreement with Royal Roads University that enables graduates of the Associate of Arts Degree to transfer directly into the third year of the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Communication program, provided admission requirements are met. The pathway offers students an opportunity to build on a broad liberal arts education while preparing for careers in communications, media, public relations, and professional writing.
Four additional agreements with University of Lethbridge create direct routes into bachelor’s degrees in high-demand fields. Graduates of the Human Service Worker diploma can transfer into the Bachelor of Health Sciences in Addictions and Mental Health Counselling, advancing to third year standing and continuing their preparation for careers supporting mental health and wellness.
Technology students also benefit from a new pathway. Graduates of the Computer Information Systems Technology diploma can transfer directly into the third year of the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, building on the practical and technical skills gained through their diploma studies.
Students in several human services programs will have access to another new opportunity through the Bachelor of Health Sciences in Indigenous Health. Graduates of the Child, Youth and Family Studies, Criminal and Social Justice, or Human Service Worker diplomas can transfer into the program and continue their studies in an area focused on improving health outcomes and supporting Indigenous communities.
A fifth agreement provides a pathway from the Criminal and Social Justice diploma into the Bachelor of Health Sciences in Public Health, creating opportunities for students interested in community health, disease prevention, health promotion, and policy development.
Together, these agreements reinforce College of the Rockies’ commitment to providing accessible pathways to higher education. You can begin your studies in a learning environment that offers personalized support, hands-on experience, and strong connections to your community while maintaining a seamless route to university degree completion. Not from the region? You will still benefit from the support and experience, lower costs, and take advantage of the opportunities that come with living in the BC Rockies.
As you prepare for Fall 2026 and beyond, these new transfer opportunities mean you can save money, receive individualized support, and confidently pursue a university degree that aligns with your career aspirations while surrounded by stunning beauty. Whether your interests lie in communications, technology, social services, mental health, Indigenous health, or public health, you now have more pathways than ever to reach your goals.
