“I’ve been through many interviews over the years since graduating and it’s always surprised me how many people know about the high standards the College has set for the nursing program and the profession in general.”
From a young age in Cochrane, Alberta, Jenna Sirucek knew her future lay in healthcare. Driven by a desire to serve others and improve the quality of the system, she was equally discerning about the education she needed to achieve her goals.
“I wanted hands-on experience in smaller class sizes and opportunities to connect with my professors on a regular basis,” Jenna recalls. This led to her to enrol in the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at College of the Rockies. “The teachers were fantastic, and the library team was very supportive as we learned to write in APA formatting,” she adds.
Graduating from the LPN program in 2016, Jenna continued to pursue her goal to help create a better healthcare system. She earned a bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, continuing to work toward her vision.
Today, Jenna serves as a Senior Manager of People, Services, and Recruitment for a leading organization specializing in air and ground ambulance services for remote communities in northern Canada. Her role is multifaceted and impactful.
“I oversee a team of incredible individuals committed to improving healthcare,” she explained. “We’re streamlining processes, addressing talent shortages, and collaborating with government leaders to provide best-in-class service to those in need.”
Her work directly impacts communities often underserved by traditional healthcare systems, exemplifying her commitment to making a difference.
As a Board Member for an international Artificial Intelligence organization specializing in business process outsourcing, Jenna aims to leverage the potential of AI-driven solutions to transform and innovate the healthcare industry in the future.
Jenna credits much of her success to her education. “The College provided me with an incredible foundation in healthcare and a clear understanding of real-life expectations placed on providers,” she said. “The instructors showed us the vast opportunities available to LPNs and prepared us for virtually any workplace.”
Reflecting on her time at the College, Jenna emphasizes its supportive environment. “It was a challenging journey, but I’m so glad I did it. The College continues to hold a special place in my heart,” she shares. “I hope others considering the program will choose the College for its strong commitment to excellence.”
For anyone considering College of the Rockies, Jenna’s advice is clear. “You’re going to the right place. The College offers unique opportunities to learn and get ahead,” she said.
As a Student Ambassador, Jenna enhanced her public speaking skills while promoting the College. She also recalls a powerful experience visiting a former residential school, which deepened her understanding of Indigenous histories and perspectives. “That visit was very eye-opening and added to my growth as a healthcare professional,” she notes.
Jenna’s journey from student to healthcare leader is a testament to her determination and the quality of education she received at College of the Rockies. “Years later, I’m still applying what I learned at the College to my work,” she said.
As she continues to address challenges and improve healthcare systems, Jenna’s story inspires future students and alumni alike.
Thank you, Jenna, for letting us be part of your incredible journey. We can’t wait to see the continued impact you’ll have in the healthcare field.
