A commitment made by Columbia Basin Trust (the Trust) in 2019 continues to have a lasting, positive impact on College of the Rockies students.

In 2019, the Trust partnered with College of the Rockies and Selkirk College on a $14-million initiative to enhance student experience. This transformative partnership, which runs through 2027, has enabled College of the Rockies to make significant enhancements across multiple areas of campus life and learning.

Thanks to this investment, students are benefiting from:

  • New Learning Environments: An outdoor classroom at the Cranbrook Campus offers a unique place for students to get outside to learn
  • Innovative Programs and Equipment: Program development has been strengthened with the addition of cutting-edge tools such as 3D dental imaging, virtual reality patient care simulations, and the Anatomage Table — the most advanced 3D anatomy and virtual dissection tool technology available.
  • Revitalized Student Spaces:
    • Upgraded fitness centre equipment
    • Reimagined Learning Commons with an Idea Lab and Flexible Learning space
    • A fully remodeled cafeteria and kitchen, designed for both function and connection
  • Cultural Enrichment and Indigenization:
    • Indigenous art installations at the Cranbrook and Creston campuses
    • Refreshed Indigenous student lounge in the Place Where People Gather
  • Expanded Arts Opportunities: New pottery wheels and kilns are supporting the growth of fine arts classes

Through this partnership, Columbia Basin Trust and College of the Rockies are not only investing in infrastructure and innovation—we are investing in people. By shaping a more inclusive, dynamic, and inspiring college experience, we are empowering students to thrive—today and well into the future.

As we look ahead to 2027 and beyond, the legacy of this commitment is clear: a stronger, more vibrant educational community which, in turn, creates stronger, more vibrant communities within our region.
