Choosing a college over a university can be a smart and strategic decision for students looking jump start their careers. Universities can be an excellent choice for theoretical knowledge but may leave you with a less direct career path after graduation. With smaller class sizes, lower tuition costs, and programs designed in collaboration with industry leaders, colleges offer a more personalized and affordable pathway to success.

Want to earn a university degree? Don’t overlook colleges. Imagine completing the first two years of your program, developing good study habits, in a small institution where your instructors know your name. Imagine having access to more lab and outdoor field time because there are few students to compete with. Imagine greatly reducing the cost of your four-year degree by completing two years at a college, with much lower tuition. Imagine instructors who are available to you, often even after you graduate. What you’re imagining is a college education.

College’s incorporate work-integrated learning, providing you with hands-on experience and preparing you to be job ready when you graduate. College of the Rockies offers a growing-list of work-integrated learning opportunities for our students include paid co-op placements, unpaid practicums, apprenticeships, and community and industry research and projects.

Perhaps you believe,“my child is too smart; she needs to go to university.” Consider lower tuition, a more personalized educational experience from instructors who care about the success of their students, opportunities to get plenty of hands-on experience, ability to transfer credits toward a university degree – and maybe college is the smart way to start or complete your education.
