October is suddenly upon us. The landscape is changing from green to stunning shades of gold and red, the mornings and evenings are noticeably cooler, and the days are shorter. October also means celebrating Thanksgiving – and thinking about those things we’re thankful for.
In addition to the usual things to be thankful for: my loved ones, health, my work at the College, etc., I am thankful for living in the BC Rockies. We are so lucky to be able to walk out our doors and be surrounded by stunning beauty.
On Sunday, October 2, I went on a drive in the backcountry and then hiked up a steep, but scenic trail, to Hourglass Lake – not far from Cranbrook. Stunning landscapes like this abound in this region and, for that reason, this Thanksgiving, I am thankful for opportunity to live in the picturesque East Kootenays.
What do you feel thankful for?
