Course Overview
Do you want to learn more about supporting your family and loved ones who are palliative, or would you like to volunteer as an “End of Life Companion? This “Companioning the Dying” course will prepare you to assist individuals, their families and caregivers with compassionate end-of-life support.
“Companioning the Dying” will cover topics such as the difference between hospice and palliative care including the concept of the Circle of Care. The course will also review:
-The trajectory and signs and symptoms of a life limiting diagnosis
-The role of a caregiver/volunteer including the different skills for active listening
-The principles of end-of-life companioning
-Reconciliation needs of the dying
-Self-care for the caregivers/volunteers
PLEASE NOTE:
Our CE course guide has advertised this course to be “Companioning the Bereaved” which we plan to offer again in the spring of 2025.
