Paddling with Confidence: Intro to Canoeing

Course Overview

This course is designed for beginner canoeists or those seeking a refresher on tandem paddling skills. Participants will build confidence paddling on flat water while learning efficient forward travel, turning, and maneuvering techniques. Topics include safe canoe transport and launching, basic canoe rescue, outfitting and waterproofing gear, and essential strokes such as draw, pry, sweep, and J-stroke. Optional components may include in-water rescue practice and introductory solo paddling. Participants must bring their own canoe.
