2-Sentence Horror Contest
It was a dark and stormy night… when the Learning Commons decided to host a 2-Sentence Halloween Story Contest for all College students, faculty, and staff. The contest begins Monday, October 14, 2025, and submissions must be submitted online by Thursday, October 30, 2025. Horror story submissions may be about any terrifying topic or scary subject but must be original and two sentences (400 characters or less) in length.
Stories will be voted upon as a blind review (with identifying information removed) by library faculty and staff. Three lucky wordsmiths will be chosen to receive:
- 1st place will receive $25.00 gift card
- 2nd place will receive Swag bag
- 3rd place will receive Swag bag
Winners will be announced Monday, October 31st

Contest Rules:
- Participants must be a COTR affiliate (COTR email/number required on survey)
- Entries must be submitted by Sunday, October 30 at 11:59 p.m.
- Winners will be announced on Friday, October 31
- May submit multiple entries, but can only win one prize
- Stories that do not follow the 2-sentence rule will be disqualified
- Submissions that violate privacy, promote illegal activity, or incite violence will be disqualified.
