Bongo (Video-Based Assessment) Design Sprint

May 7
design process- 1. Understand, 2. Sketch, 3. Decide, 4. Prototype, 5. Test

This full-day, hands-on session explores how video-based assessment and video conferencing with Bongo can support performance-based learning activities within Moodle. Bongo enables instructors to design individual, group, structured Q&A, and interactive video assignments, along with flexible evaluation approaches such as instructor grading, peer review, and self-assessment.

During this design sprint, participants will explore the platform and begin developing a video-based assessment activity aligned with their course goals.

Session Objectives

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Explore the Bongo platform within Moodle and develop a preliminary use case for integrating video-based assessment aligned with a course learning outcome.
  2. Examine principles of video-based and performance-oriented assessment and analyze how Bongo assignment formats (individual, group, structured Q&A, and interactive) can support different instructional goals.
  3. Apply key configuration settings in Bongo, including evaluation options, workflow features, and AI-supported tools, in ways that align with sound digital pedagogy and the intended student learning experience.
