College of the Rockies Executive Director, International and Regional Development, Patricia Bowron, is pleased to announce the appointment of Wayne Lee-Ying as the new Manager, International Education. He replaces Jeff Cooper who has taken on the role of Business Development Manager.
Lee-Ying brings with him many years of experience in various roles including as Vice Principal of a Canadian high school in Wenzhou, China and work in the Canadian banking sector. His most recent position was as one of the academic leads for the University of Alberta’s English Language program.
“It is great to be a part of the growth of the College’s award-winning International education team,” Lee-Ying says. “I look forward to continuing to grow our programs and supporting students’ success. The work and commitment from the staff at the College and the community is what enables students to integrate quickly into Canadian student life. I am excited to be a part of that.”
Lee-Ying holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Alberta as well as a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Royal Roads University.
“We are pleased to have Wayne join our team,” adds Bowron. “The presence of our over 250 international students from 40 countries greatly enhances our Canadian students’ experience and brings a global flavour to our Kootenay classrooms. Wayne will be a great addition to the International Education department as we look at maintaining our status as number one in the world for international student satisfaction (International Student Barometer survey).
