Local students interested in psychology now have a more affordable pathway to a university degree. Starting in September, College of the Rockies will offer an Associate of Arts degree in Psychology program that allows students to complete the first two years of a Bachelor of Psychology close to home, benefitting from smaller class sizes, lower tuition, and reduced living cost while earning credits that transfer directly into Bachelor of Psychology programs at universities across B.C. and Alberta.
“We have heard from our regional high schools that students are interested in Psychology programs and that a degree pathway is important to them. This program reflects our commitment to creating accessible pathways for students to begin their degrees locally,” said Stephanie Wells, Dean of University Arts. “By starting at College of the Rockies, students receive individualized support in smaller classes while building a strong academic foundation that transfers directly into Bachelor of Psychology programs.”
The Associate of Arts in Psychology reinforces the College’s role as a starting point for students pursing university degrees and is ideal for students interested in related careers as well as in careers that benefit from a strong understanding of human behaviour, mental health, and wellbeing like education, business, marketing, and sales. It also supports the College’s strategic priorities by enhancing access to post-secondary education, supporting student success, and strengthening pathways between college and university study. By offering an affordable, locally delivered start to a psychology degree, the College is enhancing student experience by helping reduce financial barriers while supporting learners to remain connected to their community.
Individuals interested in exploring the Associate of Arts in Psychology are invited to attend an online University Arts information session on (date) at (time). The session is free to attend. Participants are asked to pre-register at cotr.bc.ca/info-sessions.
