Recreation Management

Recreation is the heart of a community and you can make a positive impact!

The Recreation Management program prepares you for a career in operations, athletic development, facility management, recreation programming and many other specialty fields. Community recreation and non-for profits need trained professionals.

Choose from a two-year diploma or complete the one-year certificate. The program is available online, face to face, or a mix of both– whatever works for you and, it may vary semester to semester!

This program starts in September each year. Part-time students applying in the Winter or Spring semester should select University General Studies as their program when applying.

Loving what you’re learning? The diploma ladders directly into Year 3 of the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sustainable Business Practices degree program which has additional flexibility of part-time, full-time, face to face, or online. At this level you work on industry projects, conduct research and deepen your knowledge of sustainability practices desired of businesses.

Broaden your perspectives as our students come from all over, some of whom already work in the industry, which provides rich experiences as you learn the foundational business know-how expected of employers today. This, along with a practical work experience (international students complete a practicum, domestic students are recommended to complete a co-op) and specialty courses, means you graduate with both academic and professional experience.

The Recreation Management diploma is awarded to students who successfully complete the two-year diploma curriculum – a total of 60 credits.


The Recreation Management certificate is awarded on successful completion of the first year coursework in the RMGT diploma program – a total of 30 credits.
