Between 2014 and 2017, College of the Rockies collaborated with the Instituto de Aprendizaje Industrial (IAI) in Oruro, Bolivia to strengthen IAI’s capacity in competency-based education and training (CBET). Through this Colleges and Institutes Canada Education for Employment program, the College’s helped enhance IAI’s capacity in curriculum development, pedagogy, management, guidance services, and communications. The College also worked with IAI to develop a new industrial mechanics training program in hydro pneumatics and electro hydraulics. The curriculum developed focused on both the skills needed to be part of the growing natural resource industry in Bolivia and sustainable methods and practices that minimize environmental impacts.
