Course Overview
Explore the basics of the Banjo. Gain the tools needed to start playing the clawhammer banjo on your own and in a jamming environment! No musical experience necessary. Start with a breakdown of the banjo parts and terminology. Discover methods on how to hold the instrument comfortably while also incorporating basic left-hand techniques. Discuss and practice the basic right-hand technique (The Bum Diddy) along with more advanced drop thumbing and double thumbing techniques later in the course. Further teachings include understanding and playing with the two main tunings (G &C), introducing tab reading and discussing key signatures and how they relate to jamming with other musicians. Also cover theory of the musical number system aka the Nashville Number System.189
