Course Overview

This course will be of interest to persons using pesticides or planning to work in the horticulture industry. It will prepare participants to write the Provincial examination to obtain “Pesticide Applicator Certificate”. The 4-day class will cover product labels, safe handling, legislation, pest management and practice questions for calibration. This class will cover exams in all categories (Landscape, Forestry, Noxious Weeds and Agriculture).

Ahead of the class, you must obtain the study materials from the Product Distribution Centre in Victoria. Order from the website crownpub.bc.ca (select “Categories” then “Pesticide courses”). Select the manuals in the category related to the exam you will write and allow at least 2 weeks for delivery.

Examinations are held at the Government Agent Office or the B.C. Access Centre found in most localities. Exam arrangements are made with Service BC in Golden at 1-866-205-2102 (or 250-344-3406). You must specify at which locations you wish to write. Cost for the examination is $90.00. Payment is by cheque, money order or credit card. Each study kit contains an application form with instructions. The examination is open book and last 2 to 3 hours, depending on the certificate.
