We are pleased to offer a special professional development opportunity to all COTR management, faculty, and support staff, Wednesday, February 21st, as we welcome Dr. Kyra Garson to campus. Dr. Garson is a highly esteemed scholar, practitioner, and trainer in cultural equity issues in Higher Education with a focus on intercultural learning and social justice, working at Thompson Rivers University.

The morning session will focus on the what and the why of shifts and trends in higher education and how schools across the province and country have reacted to the impacts on learning and teaching outcomes. The afternoon will be about exploring expectations, assumptions, and outcomes for both learners and educators. Using a framework of intercultural competence, participants will explore ways to facilitate classroom engagement and group work with students from diverse backgrounds.

Schedule

All sessions will take place in the Learning Commons.

Registration closes February 13, 2024.
