Applications for College of the Rockies 2026/2027 academic year open on November 1.

College of the Rockies will begin accepting applications for the 2026-2027 academic year on Saturday, November 1, 2025.

“Applying early gives students the best chance to secure a seat in their preferred program and to plan ahead with confidence,” said Jason Colombo, Registrar. “It’s a simple step that opens the door to scholarships, housing options, and a smoother start to College life.”

For many students in the East Kootenay, College of the Rockies offers an exceptional opportunity to begin or complete their education close to home. With small class sizes, approachable instructors, and a hands-on learning, students gain the knowledge and skills they need to succeed, without leaving the mountains and community they love.

Kendal Plant, a Cranbrook native now working with Elango Laboratory at the BC Children’s Hospital as well as on her own projects with the Hospital’s Biochemical Genetics Clinic, loved the idea of being able to study close to home.

“The tight-knit community at the College made me feel comfortable as I began my post-secondary education,” she said. “I took all the first-year science courses, but it was the genetics course that helped me realize that microbial life excited me most.

Students like Kendall who are considering a university degree can start locally through Associate of Science or Arts degrees before transferring. The College also offers a wide range of career, technical, and trades programs.

Those who apply early are given priority consideration for competitive programs, have more time to explore financial aid and scholarship opportunities, have early access to advising and course selection, and more time to plan housing arrangements, if needed. Applying early also helps reduce stress, allowing students to focus on finishing high school.

Applications can be submitted at cotr.bc.ca/apply or online through EducationPlannerBC. Students who attend and apply at the November 5 Open House will have their application fee waived.
