The 2023/24 Entrance Scholarship application is now closed.
College of the Rockies offers over $50,000 in entrance awards to first-time students entering into full time programs at the College.
Eligibility
- Students must be Canadian Citizens or a Permanent Resident.
- Students must be entering College of the Rockies for the first time directly from Secondary School in 2023.
Academic Excellence Entrance Scholarships
Open to students who have a minimum 75 percent grade average in their completed grade 11 and 12 academic classes.
Awards are from $500 up to one year of free tuition!
Scholastic Distinction Scholarships
The most valuable and prestigious scholarships awarded by the College. These awards are available to all East Kootenay Secondary schools students with a minimum of 85% grade average in their completed grade 11 and 12 academic classes.
Students can receive up to 2 years of free tuition! (a value of approximately up to $8,000)
Sunrise Rotary Scholarships
Rotary Club of Cranbrook Sunrise Undergraduate Scholarship 2nd Year Students (3 awards of $1,500 each)
Eligibility
To be eligible students must be:
- Cranbrook students – normally graduates of Mount Baker Secondary, but students who completed home schooling while residents of Cranbrook, or who completed Ministry of Education requirements at a private school in Cranbrook will receive equal consideration.
- Entering 2nd year of undergraduate studies at a recognized post-secondary institution such as universities, college or trade schools.
- At least one award will be designated for Arts and/or Performing Arts students.
Criteria
In selecting the successful candidate, the Scholarship Committee of the Rotary Club of Cranbrook Sunrise will give equal consideration to the following:
- Academic merit
- Financial need
- Community service and volunteer work
- At least one award will be designated for an Arts and/ or Performing Arts student.

Clare Ramdin & Rotary Club of Cranbrook Sunrise Undergraduate Scholarship (4 awards of $1,500 each)
Clare Ramdin:
It is very important to recognize the life of Clare Ramdin and how she quietly impacted so many people’s lives. Born and raised in Scotland, Clare moved to the Kootenays in the mid 60 ‘s and had a fulfilling career as an Purchaser for Crestbrook Forest Industries. She volunteered for many charities in Cranbrook. This volunteerism even extended to Mexico. In Mexico, as she enjoyed the warm sun, she worked with underprivileged youth. Clare’s desire to help others is the cornerstone of this scholarship.

Tembec Industries Inc./Rotary Club of Cranbrook Entrance Scholarship
A $1,000 tuition scholarship for a Mount Baker Secondary School graduate entering first or second level of an approved Apprenticeship Trades Training program:
Assessments for awards are considered on the student’s academic merit, performance. Applicants must submit a reference form from an instructor or employer that identifies the student’s potential for program completion.
How to apply for all entrance scholarships:
- Apply on-line – applications are now closed.
- After you have completed your Grade 12 first semester, obtain an official Secondary School transcript containing completed and in progress courses.(You can obtain these from your secondary school office or your provincial Ministry of Education and it must included your fall semesters marks) You must supply a copy to Financial Aid and a copy to Admissions.
