Rezin (Butch) Butalid, MBA

Discipline/Teaching Area: Business

I joined the College as an instructor in the business program in 2008. Since that time, I have served as coach and instructor for many of our student business teams, competing at the annual Western Canadian Business Competition at Okanagan College. The College’s junior and senior teams, composed of diploma and degree students, regularly bring home medals from the competition, though the senior team only started competing in 2019.

I hold an MBA (Finance) from the University of Leicester, England and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in the Philippines. I started my career working full-time at a bank while also teaching accounting courses part-time in one of the best and biggest universities in the country.  I also worked as a Senior Accountant in Saudi Arabia for several years.

From 1990-2008, I instructed accounting at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the United Arab Emirates, before moving with my family to Cranbrook, BC. While in the UAE, I also served as Coach to the HCT Women’s student teams competing in the Annual International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition held in San Diego, California. My teams won 2nd place in 2007 and 1st place in 2008.
