Discipline/Teaching area: Child, Youth, and Family Studies Program Coordinator
I joined the College in 2003 and teach in the Child, Youth, and Family Studies program, primarily in the Education Assistant and Aboriginal Education Support Worker specialties. I have also been program coordinator since 2012. I have served on various committees, including Education Council, Classroom and Information Technology, and Program Quality Assurance Review, as well as multiple task forces.
I have a Master of Educational Technology degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. In addition to instructing at the post-secondary level, I taught in the K-12 system for 20 years, both at the high school and elementary levels. I completed a Teaching and Learning in an Information Technology Environment Post Baccalaureate diploma and served as a mentor for the BC Ministry of Education’s Information and Communication Technology Initiative. My passion is for creating dynamic, interactive and inclusive classrooms for online learning where activities foster critical thinking, creativity, curiosity, and authentic knowledge building. I love online learning and the collaborative communities we build together within courses.
