Jani Vogell, M.Kin, CSEP-CEP

Discipline/Teaching Area: Kinesiology

Jani has been an instructor in the Kinesiology program at the College since 2007. She holds a Masters degree in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary (Exercise and Functional Fitness) and is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP-CEP). Her master’s degree primarily focused on exercise and training considerations for persons with chronic disability and disease.

Jani’s career spans more than 20 years in a variety of Kinesiology-related professions including personal training, coaching running and yoga, occupational and functional rehabilitation, and in the Human Performance Lab at the University of Calgary. She has worked with a variety of clients and athletes with considerably vast goals and abilities, from marathoners and elite athletes, to those needing to regain functional abilities. She has been contracted with the National Sport Center- Calgary as the Conditioning, Testing and Program Development Specialist for Canadian Paralympic Athletes and specialized in developing cardiovascular fitness testing protocols and athlete monitoring. She was also employed with the Calgary Health Region as an Exercise specialist for patients with chronic disease and was responsible for the metabolic and stress testing for all patients entering the program.

Formerly a University of Calgary varsity athlete in track and field, fitness, sport, and outdoor recreation have always played a major role in her life. She loves being back in the Kootenays where she grew up and where her passion for mountain biking, skiing, backpacking, and a small, connected community was shaped.
