Using the UDL Template for your Course
November 15 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
This session will go through the rationale of the UDL template to support instructors in adopting key accessibility and universal design elements into their COTROnline Course Pages.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) emphasizes learner agency that is purposeful, reflective, resourceful and strategic. It focuses on how we can provide multiple means of Engagement, Representation, and Action & Expression to allow students to select and strategically navigate their own learning journey. Part of this goal is providing clarity to students to assist with their navigation of the course and ensuring web accessibility standards.
I this session, we will build several of the UDL components together, including:
- The profile block and introduction
- The course banner and image
- The course support dropdown
- Adding captions to a video
We will also review how to use the Accessibility Review tool.
Please make sure to request a UDL shell for an upcoming course (or a blank shell) in advance.
