College of the Rockies’ Creston campus will be kicking of Blossom Festival weekend with a Community Celebration on Friday, May 17 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm.

“We invite the community to stop by before most Blossom Festival activities get underway to enjoy some goodies, take part in a mini-Continuing Education lesson in our mobile education lounge, and see the new home of the Fire Training certificate program,” said Morgan Gauthier, Creston campus manager. “Our recruitment officers will also be on hand with lots of information about College programs and opportunities and our mascot, Digger, will be ready for photos with the kids, or kids at heart.”

The College is looking forward to offering their first intake of the Fire Training certificate program in Creston in September when it joins the campus’ existing programs in Adult Upgrading, Health Care Assistant, and a wide variety of Continuing Education courses.

“Blossom Festival seemed the ideal time to celebrate our Creston campus and all of the programs, courses, and services provided here, as it is these offerings which help our community flourish,” Gauthier said. “We hope folks will come check us out and maybe grab some popcorn before making their way to the midway.”

The College will also be participating in the Blossom Festival parade the following day, once again showcasing their mobile education lounge which will be joined by their fire truck. The parade starts at 11:00 a.m. from Kootenay River Secondary School at 223 18 Ave. S.

The Creston Campus Community Celebration takes place on Friday. May 17 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Creston campus – 301 16th Ave. S. The College hopes alumni and continuing students are among those attending the Community Celebration as they’d love to hear about where they are now.
