College of the Rockies president Paul Vogt and Allan Knibbs, Director of Facilities met with the East Kootenay Community Animal Response and Education Society (EKCARES) in the morning of Monday, March 27.

The College and EKCARES worked out a solution, together, that meets everyone’s goals. The EKCARES group will fundraise and build a compound for the 14 cats that will be fully enclosed and located away from campus buildings. The College will contribute to the building costs as well. The compound is expected to be ready by July 30th and the cats will be relocated at that time. Going forward, the cats will be maintained and monitored by the EKCARES group.
