Program Overview
Students can take up to four online courses towards their ECE Certificate. In the meantime, upon successful completion of CYFS116, students can apply to the BC ECE Registry to work as an Assistant in Early Childhood Education.
Prerequisites:
C+ (65%) minimum in English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12, or English 090
What you will gain:
Up to 16 high school credits toward graduation
An educational qualification to apply to the BC ECE Registry to work as an Early Childhood Education Assistant
Up to 13 post-secondary credits, Early Childhood Education (ECE)
With support from your high school counsellor or principal, complete the CYFS Dual Semester Application package. This package includes the following forms and information sheets:
Submit the completed application package to your high school counsellor. If approved, your application will then be given to the Regional Transition Coordinator for submission to College of the Rockies. Soon afterwards, the College will contact you via email regarding your admission status.
Note: Each course is assessed an $11.50 Student Association fee to a maximum of $34.50 per term. These fees do not include textbooks costs.
Additional Costs
Textbook costs are approximately $600.

Tuition and fees may be sponsored by your school district for any dual credit courses, which includes the ECE Dual Credit Semester. A sponsorship form will be required from your school.
Other Fees – such as Student Association fees, UPass, Health & Dental Plan, books, tools, equipment and transportation – may not be covered by your school.
