The HERizons program to provide resources to help women advance in their careers

College of the Rockies’ Creston campus is launching the HERizons program in partnership with Seneca College. The program offers a range of virtual sessions intended to be accessible to all people who identify as women across B.C. and to support regional economic recovery and inclusive economic growth for today’s workforce.

“The College is proud to be part of this important initiative to assist women who are transitioning in their careers or starting a business as our economy and workforce recover from COVID. Opportunities for free training, upgrading, and mentorship for these women is an important first step in getting them back on the path to meaningful careers,” said Leah Bradish, Director, Campus Operations, Continuing Education, and Contract Training.

Running until November 2023, the HERizons program will provide women with access to targeted workshops (in-person and online), virtual reality simulation learning, business math and English courses, career development sessions, networking events, and microgrants for female entrepreneurs.

Those interested in the HERizons program are invited to register for the HELIXRise Summit 2022, a virtual networking event to be held November 17, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (MST). Presented by ScotiaBank, HELIXRise is an online presentation focusing on financial wellbeing and personal branding, tailored specifically for women.

The first virtual panel discussion will take place on November 22 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. (MST). The Transformative Power of Self-advocacy session will feature Dana Wesley, the College’s Executive Director, Indigenous Strategy and Reconciliation.

HERizons is supported by a $2 million contribution agreement received from the Government of Canada’s Adult Learning, Literacy, and Essential Skills Program and Essential Skills Program – Women’s Employment Readiness Pilot Program and aligns with the College’s two-year action plan to serve as the region’s educational leader.

The HERizons program is available to anyone but the content is designed for those who identify as women, including gender diverse people. Most of the content will be available online with regional in-person events and viewing parties scheduled throughout the year.
